Enjoy the privacy of your own self contained cottage Relax beside the calming waters of the Manning River Wonder at the Sea Eagles teaching their young to fish Explore rainforest, wetland and esturine riverbank without leaving the property Try some saltwater fishingAdmire the abundant bird life Fifteen minutes from surfing beaches Well behaved pets are most welcome Beautiful & Convenient Location Mansfield is a 40 acre property on the banks of the magnificent Manning River with extensive views over the Lansdowne escarpment and the Manning Valley. Mansfield is an ideal location for a relaxing holiday. There are rainforest, wetland and river walks on the property. Cottage Accommodation Two Cottages The cottages were completed in 1999. They
are constructed from north coast hardwoods with a pitched ceiling and
solar passive design. The cottages have featured in 'The Non-Conventional
Homes Tour' for the three years. We sourced windows, doors and floor boards
from recycled building suppliers so as to give the new cottages an 'old
country' feel to them.
Below is a photo of the main living area inside the cottages. As the photo shows we have utilised tongue and groove walls, polished floorboards and an open plan to generate a area that is comfortable and relaxing.
The queen size bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. Designed to be relaxing, peaceful and quiet. Wake up to the sounds of native birds. General Facilities In-ground saltwater swimming pool Undercover gas and wood BBQ area Private boat ramp (or fish from the bank) Diverse range of walks Laundry including clothes dryer TV and stereo provided DVD and video player on request River walks Conifer garden The Riverbank WalkAlong the riverbank, we have developed a 500 metre walk, parts of which are through dry rainforest. We have been working hard to re-vegetate the riverbank with species that are local to this area. Along the walk are various fishing spots and also chairs to sit and relax along the way. The Manning River is a saltwater estuary and the fish you are likely to catch are bream, flathead and blackfish, so don't forget to bring your rods. We also have a boat ramp which gives guests easy boat access to the river, so if you have a boat, you can enjoy the fishing all the way from Manning Point to Wingham. Conifer Garden The Conifer Garden overlooks the Manning River downstream from the property. At the end of the hill is access to our private boat ramp which is available to our guests. There is also a picnic area underneath a majestic ironbark that offers cool breezes during warm days. There are also several spots for casting a line for a variety of saltwater fish. The Conifer Garden There are several easy walks on the property that take in a variety of fantastic views. The photo below of our wetland was taken in the late afternoon as a large number of birds were coming in to roost for the night. Species include but are not limited to: Royal Spoonbill, White Ibis, Black Swan, Cattle Egret, White Faced Heron, Pelicans, Wood Duck, Swamphen and the occasional Jabiru. River Views Other walks include our riverbank walk and through some Dry Rainforest dominated by Shatterwood and massive vines to the top of the hill to take in views of Coocombac Island National Park. Many of our guests are returning time and time again to enjoy the serenity of the property and hospitality of the hosts. Several guests have returned to exchange wedding vows and almost everyone tells a friend. Strawbale BBQ AreaThe BBQ area was designed as a point where our guests could meet and enjoy beautiful views. The walls were constructed from straw bales baled on the property and then rendered with cement. The finished product gives a feeling of warmth and charachter. The area is central to all accommodation and joins large areas for entertaining visiting friends.
